Maddox Park pool renovation completes first phase of park improvements

Atlanta officials celebrated the official opening of the newly renovated swimming pool in Maddox Park on Tuesday.
The city spent $1.3 on the updates which include a zero-entry feature, a renovated pool house, three pool deck canopy shades, lounge chairs, water play and jet spray features, according to a news release from the city.
The pool renovation is the first phase of improvements for the park. Under the Maddox Park Master Plan developed with Atlanta BeltLine, Inc., the public park will continue to receive improvements and expansions to its greenspace and recreation facilities.
The park is also close to Proctor Creek which the City of Atlanta plans to remediate and restore. The restoration will result in the addition of 400 acres of new greenspace along the length of the creek and a trail that connects the Atlanta Beltline to the Chattahoochee River, the news release said.
“With the opening of this facility, every pool in the City of Atlanta is available for use,” said Mayor Kasim Reed.
During his campaign, Reed had promised he would reopen and revitalize recreation centers and pools in the city.
