Atlanta high school football players will demo some new equipment today that helps them reduce injuries.
The Atlanta Public Schools Department of Athletics recently bought five tackling units for each of its 10 high schools at a total cost of $37,500, according to a news release from the school system.
Known as “The Shadowman,” the tackling units are designed to reduce injuries by cutting down on player-on-player contact during tacking drills. They that allow players to learn proper tackling techniques for taking down a moving target.
Representatives from Shadowman Sports and football players from North Atlanta High School will give a live demonstration of how the tackling unit works. The event will take place today at 4 p.m. during the Warriors’ regular practice at North Atlanta High School.
