Japanese-centric eatery Nexto opens in Old Fourth Ward

Nexto, an Japanese-centric eatery, is bringing ramen, sake and chicken to the Old Fourth Ward.
The restaurant, a creation of Chef Mihoko Obunai and Concentrics Restaurants, is slated to open October 24 at 6 p.m., according to a news release. It is located at 828 Ralph McGill Blvd. NE in a funky and industrial corrugated metal shed next to Two Urban Licks.
Nexto will offer ramen, hot and cold plates and robatayaki, with six ramen bowls and other signature dishes. They will also serve a late night ramen burger after 10 p.m. that is made with a fried egg, kimchi, kaiware and sriracha kwechap. For the full food and drink menu, click here.
Obunai was initially known for her restaurant Repast that she co-opened. In 2010 she was selected as a StarChef “Rising Star Chef” and later competed on the Food Network’s “Chopped.”She later launched her own ramen pop-up “Mibo Ramen” nationwide. In 2014, Obunai launched another ramen pop-up at Atlanta’s Soundtable called “Ramen Freak,” according to the news release.
Nexto hours are Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday from 6 – 11 p.m., and from 6 p.m. – 2 a.m. on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. It is closed on Sunday.
