Voting is now open for nearly 130 slots for all Atlanta Public Schools’ GO Teams.
GO Teams are nine-member groups charged with approving schools’ strategic plans, voting solving school-related issues, approving the school’s budget and providing input to the principal for improvements that could be made, according to Atlanta Public School materials. They are made up of three elected parents or guardians, three elected instructional staff, two appointed community members, one appointed swing seat, and in high schools one appointed student.
Voting will run through April 24, APS materials indicate.
There are 128 slots open during this election season, according to APS materials. Instructions on how to vote were sent out to parents and caregivers via text, email and U.S. mail. Instructional staff received their link via their APS email.
GO Teams help teachers, parents and the overall community have a stronger voice in the decision making processes at their schools, program materials say, and help students get what they need to be successful through increased collaboration.
