Atlanta BeltLine Westside 5K/8K to take place July 14

The Atlanta BeltLine Partnership (ABP) will host the eighth annual Atlanta BeltLine Westside 5K/8K on Saturday, July 14, according to an ABP press release.
Along with the Atlanta BeltLine Eastside 10K on December 1, the Westside 5K/8K is part of the 2018 Run.Walk.Go! Race Series, which “provides opportunities for people to explore various Atlanta BeltLine trail segments as part of a healthy, active lifestyle,” the release said.
The race will begin at 7:30 a.m. with race day registration opening at 6:30 a.m. This year’s race starts and ends at Lee + White Development, 1020 White St. SW, Atlanta, Georgia 30310, making extensive use of the Westside Trail, which opened to the public last fall.
Hundreds of participants with all skill levels – from avid runners to families with pets and strollers – will run and walk through historic neighborhoods like West End and Westview, with 8K participants continuing on the trail to Washington Park and back.
Atlanta BeltLine Fitness Ambassador Madison James will be on hand to lead participants in a pre-race warmup, the release said. This year’s race features an afterparty at Monday Night Garage, also located at Lee + White and featuring direct access off the Westside Trail.
The 5K entry fee is $35, while the 8K entry fee is $40. Participants can save $10 by registering for both the Westside 5K/8K and December’s Eastside 10K at the same time. Register online here.
Race participants can register individually or as part of a team. Race awards will be given to the top three male/female finishers, and to the top three male/female finishers in each age category. Awards will be also provided to the top fundraising individual and team.
“The Run.Walk.Go! Race Series is a key part of the Partnership’s mission to engage with residents in Atlanta BeltLine communities in ways that promote healthy, active lifestyles,” ABP Executive Director Rob Brawner said. “This year’s Westside 5K/8K is especially meaningful to us with most of the race being run on the new Westside Trail for the very first time. We are grateful to our Presenting Sponsor Delta Air Lines and for the generous support of all of our race sponsors.”
