A new cannabidiol – more commonly known as CBD – infused sparkling water will be hitting the shelves this week. Cirrus, the Atlanta-based company making the beverage, was founded by Jason Santamaria and Chris Doyle, the owners of craft brewery Second Self Beer Co.
CBD, a non-psychoactive compound found in marijuana, is growing in popularity as nationwide legalization efforts pick up steam. Although its properties are not yet well understood, it’s shown to have many benefits including pain relief, anxiety reduction, and the alleviation of depression, according to Healthline.
Cirrus is the first CBD-infused water made in Georgia, according to product materials. Each can of the all-natural beverage contains 10 mg of CBD hemp extract, and will initially be available in two varieties, Waikiki, which features a papaya-lychee flavor, and Pure, which is unflavored. Additional flavors including grapefruit-lime, pineapple-orange, and ginger-turmeric will be available in coming months.
“We enjoy products made with CBD and wanted to create something that is not only natural but has zero calories and tastes great,” Santamaria said in a statement. “We’re excited for our community to grab a few cans and try something completely new.”
Cirrus will make its debut on Saturday, April 27 at Second Self’s taproom in Atlanta. It will be offered for purchase nationwide on its website, throughout Georgia through Liberator Distributing and in Alabama through Pinnacle Imports, according to product materials.
