Atlanta Police say shooting near polling place was likely a suicide

A shooting that occurred near a polling place during state primary voting on May 22 was likely a suicide, Atlanta Police said.
“On May 22, 2018 at approximately 11:30 a.m. Zone 1 officers were dispatched to a person shot at the intersection of Joseph E. Lowery Boulevard Northwest and North Avenue Northwest,” a spokesperson said. “Upon arrival, officers located a female who had been shot and was deceased. The preliminary investigation indicates this was a suicide. The incident occurred near a polling location. However, there is no indication the female worked there. The parking lot of the polling location was blocked for a short time but the location remained accessible by foot.”
