Café + Velo opening on Edgewood Avenue

A new café opening in September promises some of Atlanta’s best coffee, a rooftop deck, fresh baked goods – and bike parts.
Local artist Jeff Demetriou and Atlanta Beltline Bicycle owner Ben Boisson are teaming up for this effort on 381 Edgewood Ave SE in Sweet Auburn, according to reports from Eater Atlanta and What Now Atlanta.
The place is slated to open on Sept. 5 which is Labor Day.
On Monday, Demetriou said he couldn’t comment on the project until sometime next week. A website offers little additional information except a countdown clock and social media links.
Facebook provides some additional information calling the new café, “A modern and creative take on the quintessential French café/independent coffee shop model…Atlanta’s first and only establishment that specifically caters to the cycling/pedestrian communities of intown Atlanta.”
Café + Velo will serve Octane coffee, authentic French baked goods, as well as organic breakfast and lunch offerings, the Facebook page promises. It also says it will have an outdoor patio/rooftop deck, bike rentals, bike parts and bike parking.
“Café + Velo aims to create a unique and inclusive atmosphere that embodies the four things its owners are most passionate about: Coffee, Cycling, Cuisine, and Community,” the post says.
