City of Atlanta to temporarily restrict access to Mitchell Street through April

The City of Atlanta will temporarily restrict access to Mitchell Street between Washington Street and Capitol Avenue.
According to the city, pedestrian activity increases significantly within the identified block during the legislative session. This restriction is meant to create a safer environment for pedestrians by eliminating unnecessary vehicular traffic during that time period.
The restriction will begin at 6 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 19, and end at 6 p.m. on Sunday, April 1, 2018.
According to the Atlanta Journal Constitution, the road closure follows an incident where a man pointed a gun at a crossing guard.
