Courtney English, who asked for the recount earlier this week, rescinded his request in a letter Thursday.
English lost to incumbent Michael Julian Bond Nov. 7.
The Election Day count had Courtney English at 40,714 votes and incumbent Michael Julian Bond at 41,079 votes, a difference of 375 votes.
It was one of the most contentious races in Atlanta this election season. During a candidate forum in September, a moderator physically separated the two candidates after their debate got a little too heated.
Bond has served on the city council for seven years. English has served on the Atlanta Board of Education since 2010. He was elected to chair the board in 2014.
