Endorsements roll in: Former mayor Shirley Franklin, former opponent Peter Aman endorse Norwood

Atlanta mayoral hopeful Mary Norwood has some big names backing her bid to become Atlanta’s next mayor.
Former mayor Shirley Franklin, former city COO Peter Aman, and City Council President Ceasar Mitchell have all announced their endorsement of Norwood.
“Mary Norwood has the skills, the talents and the temperament, the intellect and the ability to build the coalitions and partnerships we need from this point forward,” Franklin said, according to WSB-TV.
WSB-TV reported that if Norwood is elected, Aman would head up her transition team. Both Aman and Mitchell were Norwood’s opponents in the Nov. 7 general election. Norwood faces fellow Councilmember Keisha Lance Bottoms in the Dec. 5 runoff.
Bottoms is endorsed by Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed and is widely seen as his heir apparent. She’s also been endorsed by City Councilmember Kwanza Hall.
In the race for city Council President, Alex Wan has been endorsed by U.S. Rep. John Lewis as well as C.T. Martin, who lost to Wan and Felicia Moore in the Nov. 7 general election.
