Georgia Tech Students Kidnapped, Robbed at Gunpoint
Four Georgia Tech students were kidnapped from the Krispy Kreme on Ponce De Leon Ave. and robbed at gunpoint last night.
The students were on a late-night snack run when they were approached by a man asking for a lighter in the parking lot of the well-known doughnut shop, according to the police report. The suspect then forced himself into the victims’ car, brandishing a pistol. The first suspect demanded the students’ phones while a second suspect entered the vehicle.
The two men then forced the driver to go to the Wells Fargo located on Lee St. to withdraw money. Each student was forced to get out one at a time to withdraw $200 each from the ATM, according to the police report. One suspect stayed in the vehicle, while the other walked each victim up to the bank.
The victims were then made to drive around for about 15 more minutes, ultimately demanding to be dropped off near Mercedes Benz Stadium, the police report indicates. The students then went directly to the Georgia Tech Police Precinct who called in Atlanta Police.
The first suspect was described as a slim black male wearing a black jacket, black pants and a hat with a New York logo. The second suspect was described as a heavy-set black male with a gray jacket and his face covered, according to the report.
