Looking to toss all that ripped up wrapping paper and discarded packaging? Note that the holidays will be changing waste collection schedules.
The Department of Public Works is reminding residents garbage, recycling and yard waste curbside collection will be delayed by one day through the week. That means Friday is your normal collection day, everything will be collected that Saturday.
Public Works crews will be following the same collection schedule the week of January 1, 2019 with a one-day delay in collection beginning New Year’s Day, the schedule indicates.
And be careful with that trash. Atlanta police are warning that throwing away boxes for expensive holiday gifts can tip off criminals you have potential things to steal inside your home. So if Santa brought you a new flat screen this year, APD suggests you break down the box and stuff it in an black trash bag before leaving it out on the curb.
Looking to recycle your Christmas Tree? Residents are encouraged to bring trees to participating Home Depot stores or the Center for Hard to Recycle Materials on Saturday, Jan. 5 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. For a list of participating locations, click here.
