It’s starting to feel more like winter in Atlanta, and with the holiday season rapidly approaching what better way to celebrate than with a little ice skating?
The Rink at Park Tavern is officially open, and this year the completely transformed environment boasts whimsical holiday décor, games and special events as well as signature cocktails and holiday treats all in a brand new “fire and ice” themed neo-Victorian environment.
“We couldn’t think of a better time to celebrate our longstanding history in the park and in Atlanta than during the holidays,” Paul Smith, owner of Park Tavern, said in a statement. “This year, we’re incorporating a mix of brass and copper, wood and glass elements, mechanical workings and ornate engraving – reminiscent of the building’s beginnings, to set the scene for a magical wintertime experience for skaters and diners alike.”
This year’s rink, the tradition of which dates back to 1905, is 85-feet long and 40-feet wide, accommodating 200 skaters at a time. The rink is open Monday through Friday from 4:30 p.m. to midnight and Saturday and Sunday from 11:30 a.m. until midnight. Guests of all ages can skate for $15 dollars on weekdays and $20 on weekends. Note, however, the rink becomes +16 after 8:30 p.m. Admission includes high-quality, professionally-sharpened skates.
Worried about busting your tail on the ice? No problem. Observers can relax by stone fire pits or private cabanas while sipping on holiday-themed cocktails or local brews. There will also be numerous special events throughout the season as well as special promotions on various snacks. For more information, visit the website.
