Intersection of Eastside Trail and Kirkwood Avenue to close

Atlanta Beltline contractors will close a Kirkwood Avenue intersection for about a month as they work on the Eastside Trail extension.
The closure will begin Monday, Aug. 22, and the intersection will remain closed until Sept. 21, according to a news release from Atlanta Beltline, Inc (ABI). The exact location of the closure is at Kirkwood Avenue and Eastside Trail between Kenyon Street and Holtzclaw Street in Reynoldstown.
Detour routes have been established around the closure. Commuters can check message boards that will be posted two weeks in advance to direct traffic in both directions around the intersection.
The Eastside Trail currently ends at Irwin Street. The extension phase that is under construction right now will continue the trail to Kirkwood Avenue. It is expected to completed in 12 months, according ABI.
Construction on Phase II, from Kirkwood Avenue to Memorial Drive, will begin when funding is available.
