Beginning on Dec. 9, MARTA is introducing three bus routes as well as changing 32 current bus routes.
According to a recent press release, “the MARTA Board of Directors adopted the route additions and adjustments to improve on-time performance and provide more direct service.”
The new routes will be as follows:
Route 40: Peachtree Street/Downtown: Route 40 creates a link between West End Station and Arts Center Station. The route will travel on Lee Street, Ralph David Abernathy Boulevard, McDaniel Street, Whitehall Street, Peachtree Street and 15th Street.
Route 40 will reduce blockage at the Five Points Station as well as create a bus connection for West End Station and Downtown Atlanta. It will run every 30 minutes, Sunday to Sunday.
Route 142: East Holcomb Bridge Road: Route 142 begins at the Mansell Road Park & Ride Lot and travels south on Georgia 400 to Holcomb Bridge Road. The route runs east on Holcomb Bridge Road to Spalding Road and River Exchange Drive in Sandy Springs, then returns west. Passengers can transfer to bus routes at the Mansell Road Park & Ride Lot to connect to the North Springs Transit Station or other parts of North Fulton served by existing bus service.
Route 142 will run from Monday through Friday, 5:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. It will run every 30 to 40 minutes, depending on time of day. This creates a new route between GA 400 and the Gwinnett County line as well as creates connections throughout North Fulton.
Route 295: Metropolitan Campus Express: Route 295 operates between Lakewood Station and the campuses of Atlanta Technical College and Atlanta Metropolitan State College. It travels on Main Street, Langford Parkway, Perkerson Road, Langston Drive, Metropolitan Parkway and Casplan Street to the campus bus stops. Return service travels on Casplan Street, Metropolitan Parkway, Dill Avenue, Lee Street and Astor Avenue.
Route 295 is a direct route between Lakewood Station, Atlanta Metropolitan State College and Atlanta Technical College. It will be available when class is in session, running every 20 minutes from 7:45 to 9:55 a.m. as well as from 12:05 to 6:15 p.m.
