Midtown Tex-Mex restaurant closes

A popular Tex-Mex restaurant in Midtown closed this weekend with little explanation for the decision.
The Texas-based Mi Cocina, located at the corner of Peachtree and 11th Street in the 12th & Midtown development, announced their closing on Facebook Saturday.
“It is with a heavy heart that we close our restaurant here in Atlanta. We have thoroughly enjoyed our time here and hope you will visit us in the Dallas/Fort Worth area,” the Facebook post says.
Mi Cocina, which has numerous locations in Texas, is owned by the M Crowd Restaurant Group. It opened in Atlanta four years ago. The two-level space had more than 250 seats, including two private dining rooms.
There is no word if anything is slated to replace the restaurant.
The 12th & Midtown development covers four blocks in Midtown, opening its first phase of development in 2008. Three more phases have opened since then, with the last one opening in spring 2016.
Additional phases in the development are planned, according to Daniel Corp., the developers behind the project.
