Midtown Whole Foods celebrates grand reopening, plans restaurant

The Midtown Whole Foods Market is celebrating recent changes to its space with a grand reopening next week. It also plans to open a full-service restaurant called The Roast in spring 2017.
The new restaurant will serve beer and wine on-tap. Additional details around the restaurant concept, final name and amenities are currently under development and will be released at a later date, a Whole Foods spokesperson wrote in an email.
A permit filed with the city this week is for interior improvements and to replace the exterior façade and entrance. The interior improvements will “incorporate a new venue for Whole Foods Grocery Store,” according to the permit.
The permit also notes plans to spend $600,000 on the updates, including new restrooms, coolers, dish room, service counter and seating.
Current customers will be happy to know renovations are complete at the existing Whole Foods Market with the grand reopening of “WFM Ponce 2.0,” according to a news release from Whole Foods.
The renovations include a beer and wine bar, cold brew coffee on tap, a self-ordering kiosk and text-to-order juice bar and a self-serve and text-to-order pizza bar. The store will also have a ramen venue by Genji Sushi Bar, and Atlanta local favorites, Octane Coffee and Iwi Fresh are now available.
Festivities to celebrate the grand reopening will be held Nov. 3-6. They include live music, DJs, a hog roast, local brewery tap takeovers and commemorative shopping bags for the first 500 customers.
A bread breaking ceremony Nov. 3 will include have free hot coffee from Octane Coffee and donuts while supplies last.
