New Officers Join APD Tomorrow

The Atlanta Police Department will be welcoming 34 new officers to the force tomorrow evening.
Class 257 and 258 have concluded 26 weeks of rigorous training at the Atlanta Police Academy, along with 12 additional weeks of field training, according to department materials. All of the graduates have been assigned to patrols throughout the city in the APD’s Field Operations Division.
Additionally, the Atlanta Police Departments Citizen’s Police Academy Class 34 will graduating alongside the officers, department materials indicate. The class is comprised of 22 community members that completed 24 hours of skilled and professional instruction to better understand policing in the city.
The graduation ceremony will be held tomorrow, June 4, at 7 p.m. at the Ray Charles Performing Arts Center, according to program materials. The keynote speaker will be AT&T’s Georgia President, Vennessa Harrison.
