Police search for suspect who shot man checking on flat tires

A man who stopped to check on flat tires was shot and killed on Saturday night, Feb. 10.
The victim has been identified as Justin Edwards. According to the Atlanta Journal Constitution, he is the son of a community activist who has worked to end gun violence. He believes his son was “set up,” according to the AJC.
The murder occurred at 600 Memorial Drive Southeast around 11 p.m.
“Upon arrival, officers located the victim who was suffering from wounds consistent with being shot multiple times,” the Atlanta Police Department said. “The 33 year old male victim was transported to Grady Hospital where he later died and Homicide units were notified. Witnesses reported that the victim pulled over into the parking lot of 600 Memorial Dr. SE to check on the condition of his tires. Both rear tires on the victim’s vehicle were flat. While checking on the tires, an unknown suspect approached and shot the victim. After the shooting, the suspect fled on foot traveling east bound on Memorial Dr. The investigation continues.”
The witnesses were friends with Edwards, the police report says.
