Serta Simmons Bedding (SSB) will officially open its new headquarters in Doraville at the site of the old General Motors Plant on Friday, May 3.
SSB, the largest manufacturer and distributor of mattresses in North America, will open the doors of a new 210,000 square-foot facility located in Assembly Yards, according to program materials. The company selected the site because of its access to public transportation as well as the space available for both the corporate headquarters and research and innovation facility.
The campus will provide space for approximately 500 employees and will combine four of the company’s U.S. offices, according to company materials. Georgia Governor Brian Kemp will be on sight to celebrate the grand opening.
Assembly Yards was the home of the former General Motors plant and shipping yard. 165-acre mixed-use development is home to numerous residential units, restaurants, work spaces, parks and a film studio.
