UPDATE: Signs point to comedy club in Broadway Diner, but club owner is unsure
The Broadway Diner in Midtown recently closed and signs in the window indicate that it will be replaced by the Punchline Comedy club.
But the joke might be on the owners of the club. Jamie Bendall, one of the owners of the club which is in the old Landmark Diner location in Buckhead, was surprised to hear that signs for the club are in the window of the Midtown restaurant. The Landmark and Broadway diners are part of the same company.
“At present I’ve got no plans, agreements, nothing that would put me in Midtown,” he told Atlanta Loop.
But Atlanta Urbanist posted this photo on his Instagram account.
Bendall told Atlanta Loop that he would try to get to the bottom of the mystery, and Oct. 4 said the owner of the building had put the comedy club’s signs in the window in an attempt to entice him to consider the Midtown location.
“As it turns out it was just a little wishful thinking on his part,” Bendall said. “That’s all it is.”
