Atlanta Police recruits will help clean up neighborhood

Thirty recruits from the Atlanta Police Training Academy will join in a neighborhood cleanup on Friday morning.
The recruits will work with the Atlanta Habitat for Humanity operations team in a community service project in the Verbena subdivision in Dixie Hills, according to a news release from Habitat for Humanity.
In addition to cleaning up the neighborhood, the project allows recruits to work with people in the community and get to know them and the neighborhood. They will also tour an Atlanta Habitat house.
APD first partnered with Atlanta Habitat for a neighborhood cleanup on Earth Day this year. Atlanta Habitat also encourages homeownership by Atlanta Police officers as part of the nonprofit builder’s mission to be a catalyst for neighborhood revitalization, according to the news release.
