First of 18 mural bike racks ready to use in central Atlanta

At least one of Atlanta’s mural bike racks are here, with more to come across the city before the end of the year.
One rack has shown up across from Howell Park near the Westside Trail. Our West End Newsletter posted a photo of the rack on their Facebook page.
Eighteen racks are going up around various central Atlanta neighborhoods, according to a news release from the city. Eighteen different artists will create the murals for the racks.
Public Art Services—in collaboration with Chief Bicycle Officer, Becky Katz and the Department of Public Works—will be installing the sculptural, bike-shaped bike racks adorned with 2-D ‘murals.’
“The goal of the Mural Bike Rack Program is to bring attention to biking transportation and biking infrastructure through creative place-making and public art,” the news release says.
