The Atlanta Police Department says a tipster helped them find a man suspected of a July 25 carjacking on Moreland Avenue.
Police said Kentrell Dabney, 20, turned himself in on Aug. 7.
The incident occurred at 350 Moreland Avenue. The victim told police she’d stopped at the gas station to buy a drink and parked on the north side of the store. She locked the car before entering the store. As she returned from the store, she saw a man entering the lot from Moreland Avenue.
He approached the victim and asked her for change. She said she did not have any. He then demanded her keys and pulled out a gun. She turned over the keys as well as her wallet, cell phone and everything she had just purchased. The suspect got in the car and told the victim to walk away from the scene. The suspect was unable to start the car and called the victim back, demanding she tell him how to start it. After she showed him how, the suspect was able to start the car. Her vehicle was was eventually recovered.
