Today the Atlanta Police Department is working with other local, state and federal law enforcement and public safety agencies in a table-top exercise to prepare for Super Bowl LIII, which is only 60 days away.
The FBI Atlanta Division, the Atlanta Police Department, the Atlanta-Fulton County Emergency Management Agency and the Atlanta Super Bowl Host team met this morning at the Georgia World Congress Center to participate in moderated scenario-based discussions on possible events they’d need to respond to cooperatively, according to police materials. The purpose of the exercise is to discuss and test the operational readiness of law enforcement and public safety in events leading up to, during and after the event.
“We have put so much preparation into the [Super Bowl LIII], and we are actually looking forward to executing and performing at a very high level,” Atlanta Police Chief Shields said in a statement.
