Around 1 p.m. this afternoon, Atlanta police officers responded to 2281 Carey Drive in Southeast Atlanta regarding an alleged carjacking.
According to the preliminary investigation, two individuals – a man and woman – were sitting inside a gray 2016 Honda Accord when they were approached by male and female suspects. The male opened the car’s passenger door, brandishing a handgun, and demanded the female passenger’s belongings.
The alleged carjacker then ordered the woman out of the car and his female accomplice stood near her. The male suspect then went back into the car and demanded the male victim’s wallet and phone. At that point, the female victim ran from the scene.
While running, the female victim heard three shots, according to the police report. When officers arrived at the scene, they located the male victim with apparent gunshot wounds. He was transported to Grady Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The suspects had left the scene in the stolen car.
