Atlanta Police charge mom after 10-year-old dies from gunshot wound

An Atlanta mother is facing manslaughter charges following the shooting death of a 10-year-old.
According to Atlanta Police, the incident happened on July 4 on Etheridge Drive.
“Units located a 10-year-old victim with a gunshot wound to his head and left index finger,” the Police Department said. “He was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital where later succumbed to his injuries. According to the three juvenile witnesses the victim retrieved the gun from a back room.”
The victim has been identified as Sincere Jordan, who was visiting his friends at the time.
The Police Department obtained warrants on July 10 for Shatora Jones, 31.
“Jones is the resident of the apartment where the shooting take place and the mother of two of the children who were present,” the Police Department said. “Jones was transported to the Fulton County Jail without incident and booked on charges of reckless conduct, involuntary manslaughter and cruelty to children in the 1st degree.”
Her children are currently staying with her family, the Police Department said.
