Atlanta Public Schools to host meeting about new police body cameras

Atlanta Public Schools plans to add body-worn cameras to its school resource officers’ uniforms as a part of the Metro Atlanta Body-Worn Camera Initiative, APS announced today. Additionally, APS will host a community meeting Tuesday to discuss the initiative.
According to APS, the Bureau of Justice Assistance awarded a grant to purchase body-worn cameras for school resource officers in Atlanta, Clayton and DeKalb County School Districts.
The upcoming meeting will allow APS stakeholders to learn about the grant and provide input on the development of the Body-Worn Camera Initiative at APS. Led by Chief Ronald Applin from the APS police department, the meeting will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 30 from 6:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the Benjamin E. Mays High School Auditorium. The school is located at 3450 Benjamin E. Mays Dr. SW, Atlanta, GA 30331.
