Beltline closing conducting inspections on the ‘wye’ property, says single lane closures required
Atlanta BeltLine Inc. says it is inspecting part of the 13 acres it recently purchased too finish the northeast corridor between Rock Springs Road northeast and Mayson Street northeast.
A portion of the property, known as the “wye,” consists of “two inactive railroad bridges shaped like a Y that will eventually connect the northeast corridor of the Atlanta BeltLine between Rock Springs Road, NE, and Mayson Street, NE.,” according to Atlanta BeltLine Inc.
“ABI’s contractors will be performing a structural inspection to identify if any repairs are needed,” ABI said in a press release. “To do so Atlanta BeltLine, Inc. contractors will close single lanes on the Buford Spring Connector where it crosses under the future Atlanta Beltline corridor to perform inspections on these two inactive railroad bridges. Single lanes will be closed from 7 p.m. until 5 a.m. the nights of November 13, 14, 15, and 16. All lanes will reopen after 5 a.m. on Thursday, November 16. During the closure period, a single northbound lane will be closed for November 13 and 14 and a single southbound lane will be closed on November 15 and 16. This may affect traffic entering the on-ramp to I-85 South and the Buford Spring Connector on the 15th and 16th. Proper signage will be posted to ensure driver safety.”
