Beltline officials plan Kirkwood Avenue closure starting Oct. 4

Atlanta BeltLine Inc. said Kirkwood Avenue would see closures starting Oct. 4 so contractors can install a temporary crosswalk.
“The Eastside Trail’s Southern Extension runs from Irwin Street to Memorial Drive,” ABI said in a press release. “Phase I of the extension runs from Irwin Street to Kirkwood Avenue. Phase II runs from Kirkwood Avenue to Memorial Drive. A temporary crosswalk will be installed at Kirkwood Avenue as part of construction of Phase I of the extension.”
The road will be open on weekends, ABI says.
Kirkwood Avenue will be closed between Holtzclaw Street SE and Kenyon Street SE at the following days and times:
- 10/4 – 10/6: Road will be open at night time for local traffic.
- 10/9 – 10/13: Road will be closed for 24 hours.
- 10/16 – 10/18: Road will be open at night time.
There will also be a meeting to update residents on the status of the project.
“Atlanta BeltLine, Inc. will host a public meeting to discuss the closure and other updates on the Eastside Trail extension.,” the press release says. “The meeting will be held on October 3, 2017 at Trees Atlanta starting at 6:30 p.m.”
