MARTA to host live music every afternoon through the end of 2017

MARTA will host 20 local musicians to perform live music at eight different stations through the month of December.
Back in September, these musicians went through auditions for two days at the Five Points Station.
MARTA designates 1 percent of its yearly budget to fund art programs, and according to a recent press release, these live musicians are “part of MARTA’s reinvigorated arts program developed to enhance the ridership experience through visual and performance arts.”
“Atlanta is an incredible hub of dynamic talent in the arts,” MARTA Arts Administrator Katherine Dirga said in a recent press release. “Offering live music to our patrons makes the holiday commute more enjoyable and provides a large audience for local musicians.”
Varying genres of live music will be available everyday from 4 to 7 p.m. at a few of the following stations: Five Points, Hamilton E. Holmes, Kensington, Lindbergh, North Springs, and West End Stations. In addition, on Falcons game days as well as New Year’s Eve, live music will be at the Dome and Peachtree Center Stations.
