MARTA will not run bus or rail service on Monday because of Hurricane Irma

As Hurricane Irma makes its way toward Georgia, MARTA has decided to suspend bus and rail services on Monday, Sept. 11.
“The projected impact of this approaching storm requires us to suspend all MARTA service for Monday. We will continue to coordinate with state and local officials and emergency personnel to determine our service schedule for Tuesday,” said CEO Keith Parker said in a press release. “Safety remains our top priority for both our customers and employees.”
Hurricane Irma is expected to hit Atlanta late Sunday and early Monday. The city of Atlanta and surrounding counties are now under a tropical storm warning.
On Sunday, Gov. Nathan Deal expanded the state of emergency to include all Georgia counties. All local school systems have cancelled classes on Monday and most have on Tuesday as well.
DeKalb County, the city of Atlanta and Fulton County are closing government offices Monday, Sept. 11.
