The community that has grown up around Pinewood Studios – where some of the past years biggest blockbusters were shot – is expanding.
Just south of Atlanta proper, Pinewood Forest, a 235-acre hybrid artist commune, company town and luxury suburb adjacent to the eponymous studio, recently announced the development of a boutique luxury cinema, according to community materials. Expected to break ground in mid 2019, the theater is expected to open its doors to moviegoers in 2020.
“Pinewood Forest is thrilled to reveal plans for the boutique theater,” Rob Parker, President of Pinewood Forest, said in a statement. “The state-of-the-art facility will complement our vision for Pinewood Forest to become a premier entertainment, culinary and wellness destination in the Southeast.”
“Georgia is a world leader in feature film production and Pinewood Forest is the perfect place to experience that artistry,” Parker added.
All of the theater’s auditoriums will feature immersive digital audio and all-digital 4k projection, and amenities including online ticketing, will-call, reserved seating and an expanded concession menu with the option to choose a full dining experience will help moviegoers enjoy the films created just across the street, according to community materials.
