New poll shows Bottoms, Norwood in the lead to be Atlanta’s next mayor

A new poll by 11 Alive shows that Councilmembers Mary Norwood and Keisha Lance Bottoms lead the pack of more than a dozen candidates vying to be Atlanta’s next mayor.
Norwood is polling at 28 percent, a number that’s bolstered by her popularity among Republicans. Bottoms is polling at 15 percent.
According to the poll, “Norwood’s support is disproportionately old, white, conservative and Republican. Bottom’s support is middle-aged, female, black, moderate and Democratic. Norwood and Bottoms run effectively even among lower-income voters; Norwood leads by 20 points among the city’s most affluent voters.”
Norwood has also adopted a strategy of skipping a number of mayoral forums being held around the city.
The poll, conducted by Survey USA, interviewed 950 adults in the city of Atlanta. To see the full results, click here.
The election is Nov. 7 and early voting starts on Oct. 16.
