Noted brewmaster planning Beltline brewpub

A brewpub backed by a notable brewmaster is coming to a Beltline near you.
According to a press release, beer brewer Mitch Steele, formerly of Stone Brewing in Escondido, Calif., is one of three partners involved in a project to open a craft brewery and brewpub in Poncey Highlands. The press release says that Stone is the 10th largest craft brewer in the United States and has breweries in Richmond, Virginia and Berlin, Germany.
The address will be at 820 Ralph McGill Avenue. The name has not been announced.
The other partners in the venture are Carey Falcone and Bob Powers.
“The project will offer Atlanta a distinctive place to enjoy craft beer, great artisanal food, and an inviting atmosphere,” the press release says.
According to the press release, the brewpub is slated to open sometime in 2017.
“I’ve enjoyed a wonderful career in craft brewing and I am excited for this next chapter in Atlanta,” Steele said in the press release. “I had an amazing time at Stone and I am very thankful for my experiences there. Now, I am looking forward to the opportunity to become part of the growing craft beer movement in Atlanta and the Southeast.”
