Report: Lawsuit could leave Masquerade relocation in limbo

According to the Daily Report, a home-builder is taking issue with the relocation of The Masquerade to West Midtown from its Beltline digs.
The Daily Report says that Steve Brock with Brock Built homes has filed a lawsuit against The Masquerade. The concert venue’s proposed new location is near a new subdivision the developer is building. The lawsuit claims the venue will bring noise and “illicit conduct” with it. Previous performers at The Masquerade have included Nirvana, Radiohead, Green Day and more. The venue recently held a festival before the Beltline location closed for good.
According to a press release from The Masquerade, the owners have high hopes for the new location.
“The new Masquerade is going to be nice, and new and shiny, built from scratch,” the press release says. “It will have upgraded bathrooms – a ton of them, and many backstage rooms that will be fancy also. The ceilings will be tall – Heaven will have a mezzanine. Yes, there will be parking.”
