Report: Mayoral candidate Mary Norwood claimed voter fraud cost her election in 2009

Mary Norwood came thisclose to beating current Mayor Kasim Reed in a hotly contested 2009 mayoral election.
Eight years later, Norwood is facing Reed’s heir apparent Keisha Lance Bottoms in the Dec. 5 runoff. But she made a claim to the Buckhead Young Republicans group about the results of that election that has recently come to light.
According to the Atlanta Journal Constitution, Norwood alleged voter fraud cost her the election. She called the information “her secret weapon,” according to the AJC. Specifically, she accused Reed of getting people who no longer lived in the city to vote and coordinated with election officials to delay the results in order to pad the vote totals. Norwood has not disputed the recording. Reed said if Norwood had questions about the election results, she had an obligation to raise those concerns in 2009.
