Atlanta Loop has partnered with Dad’s Garage to provide recaps of their latest show: SCANDAL. This improvised soap opera takes place in a fancy hotel with a seedy male strip club in the bottom. Every week the improvisers at Dad’s Garage will make up the drama, the laughs, and the SCANDAL on stage at their theatre; and we’ll be publishing the recaps. Imagine Soap Opera Digest meets Atlanta Loop, and you get the idea. Subscribers to Atlanta Loop/Decaturish will have access to a limited number of free tickets each week. This week we begin in the office of Danglerzzz. Peyton would like some time off from the club to audition for America’s Got Talent, but used it all up during the tour bus caper a couple weeks ago.
Upstairs in the Quadruple Tree Hotel, Shedebra is meeting with Misty to discuss moving forward now that Ja Rule has falsely confessed to murder, then hired a top notch Hollywood lawyer to defend him. Misty’s budding entertainment career and family is on the table. Shedebra seems undaunted and confident that they will get away with it.
Ja Rule himself is holding a meeting with his lawyer when Rev. Joe bursts in and offers to be part of the defense team.
Outside in the garden, Princess Isabel is enjoying nature and musing about finding her true love in Danglerzzz. As if on cue, Stripbot awkwardly enters and meets her for the first time and fumbles with his newfound human emotions. They discover that Stripbot is the entertainment during Isabel’s Murder Party for Ja Rule at Danglerzzz that evening.
All the while the stalwart detective Crusty is still on the hunt for clues to his brother’s death in the Danglerzzz locker room and finds himself interrogating Peyton. Things get ugly after Peyton grew angry and started beating the daylights out of him before shooting him
In a supply closet upstairs, Shedebra plays double agent by meeting with Bergeron to reveal that Misty – not Ja Rule – killed Vavianna and plans to frame him for the murder.
She advises Bergeron to stay away from the courthouse and let Ja Rule take the fall.
Stripbot, who is still discovering what being human is all about, walks across the street to Joe’s church with questions about God.
Meanwhile, Misty tries to apply first aid to Crusty’s wounds without much success. She moves him into a back room cot to recover, where he finds evidence that Stripbot might somehow be involved with his brother’s murder.
Outside in the hotel pool, Isabel and Ja Rule are asking his defense attorney questions about obtaining American citizenship. Unfortunately, Ja gets a cramp from swimming after eating and needs rescuing.
Act Two
Inside the Southern Southern Baptist Church, Shedebra confronts Joe about Ja Rule’s upcoming trial and Joe’s claim of being a paranormal prosecutor while he pontificates about Little People and repents before the Lord.
Down below in Danglerzzz, Isabel chats away with a friend as Stripbot struts his stuff on the stage. Afterwards, the chemistry between them heats up and Stripbot declares his love for her.
Around the corner in the back stage area, Crusty and Ja Rule recover from their injuries together. As a gesture of solidarity, Ja Rule offers to magically absorb all of Crusty’s pain and tells him that he didn’t kill Rusty, he just wants to be given the credit. In a moment of “clarity”, Crusty surmises that Joe must be the culprit.
Later in the bar, Bergeron meets with Ms. Steele to discuss putting her on retainer for his possible future crimes against his enemies. Bergeron can’t pay her in cash, so he offers his services instead.
The day of Ja Rule’s trial finally arrives with Judge Stripbot presiding. Ms. Steele questions Ja on the stand and discovers that he doesn’t actually know what murder is. Joe counters with a rap for the prosecution and uses his knowledge of the paranormal to posses Crusty with Rusty’s spirit and calls him to the witness stand. Rusty reenacts his death scene and reveals that no one killed him, his death was an accident. Ja Rule is set free!
