Atlanta Loop has partnered with Dad’s Garage to provide recaps of their latest show: SCANDAL. This improvised soap opera takes place in a fancy hotel with a seedy male strip club in the bottom. Every week the improvisers at Dad’s Garage will make up the drama, the laughs, and the SCANDAL on stage at their theatre; and we’ll be publishing the recaps. Imagine Soap Opera Digest meets Atlanta Loop, and you get the idea. Subscribers to Atlanta Loop/Decaturish will have access to a limited number of free tickets each week. To begin Week 3 of “Scandal!,” the new cocktail waitress at Danglerzzz, Misty Shores, was getting ready to open up when she discovered Rusty Keyster up on stage practicing on the stripper pole. He was getting ready for the debut of his stripper alter-ego, “Dirty Boy”. Misty observed his awkward, amateurish moves but said instead she was very sure he was ready to wow the Danglerzzz crowds.
Shedebra Bunting was at the concierge desk of the Quadruple Tree hotel when her boss, Bergeron Vandershite, approached. Shedebra was angry that Bergeron had impersonated her to get an excellent Trip Advisor review. Bergeron, on the other hand, was quite mad that the resulting review was only 3.5 stars. Just then, the Ambassador, Pavel Bure, entered and announced that he would be extending his stay, to see more of Shedebra. Seeing her chance to get even, Shedebra promised Pavel that she would return to his room that evening and go “all the way!”
Rusty and Bergeron were in the hotel lobby for another session of Rusty’s Lobby Boy Training. Rusty was acing the current pop quiz when Bergeron stopped in order to entrust him with a very high level duty. Bergeron told Rusty that an extreme VIP guest at the hotel needed a visit at exactly midnight that night. Due to the peculiarities of the special guest, Rusty would need to dress as a woman when he visited. Always eager to please, Rusty happily took on the assignment!
Shedebra had summoned Derek to her office, and revealed to him that she had discovered plastic explosives in his locker during the weekly locker searches. After unsuccessfully trying to lie his way out of it, Derek admitted the explosives were his, and that he planned to blow up the entire hotel in order to get revenge on the Russian Ambassador. Shedebra asked Derek if maybe he could find a way to get revenge without killing everyone, and Derek had a flash on inspiration – “I will dress as a woman and go to his room tonight!”
Jiarrhea was the first dance of the evening at Danglerzz and performed his signature act… slowly shambling about in a circle while some turn of the century ragtime piano music played, slowly hitching up his nightshirt.
Derek went to Bergeron to beg for a 5 minute set of stand up comedy at the Continental Breakfast in the hotel that morning. Bergeron was unimpressed with Derek’s one liners, and urged him to go deeper and use personal experiences for some biting observational comedy. Derek stated that his personal experiences involved the Russian KGB dragging his family away and executing his entire town. Bergeron was excited for the comedic possibilities!
Misty went to visit her friend Shedebra at the front desk of the hotel, and the two caught up and gossiped a bit. Misty revealed that her big dream was still to be a country-western singer. Shedebra mentioned that the Continental Breakfast still had an open slot for entertainment, and Misty was overcome with excitement.
Ashley Andover, overheated in her massive “Scrunge” disguise, went outside to the alley to take it off for a moment’s respite. Just as she almost had the torso off, Pavel Bure arrived to take a smoke break. Ashley panicked and the rest of her disguise tumbled to the ground, including her fake organ. With a finger over his lips, Pavel collected the fake organ and exited without a word!
Shedebra went to the Danglerzzz locker room to talk with Jiarrhea, who immediately began showering, horrifying her with his 96 year old body. It took him at least four tries to get his tattered nightshirt back on, at which point Shedebra gave up and left.
In the Lounge for the Continental Breakfast, Derek went first to try out his new observational comedy act. After a few tragic lines about his village being wiped out and family disappearing, the tough Quadruple Tree audience booed him off the stage. Misty was up next and absolutely killed with her song about working at Danglerzzz!
At the stroke of 12 a.m., Rusty Keyster showed up at Pavel Bure’s room, and Pavel was more than ready for him. Pavel grabbed Rusty, thinking he was Shedebra, and wrestled him onto the bed. Rusty managed to kick Pavel away and rolled out of the bed. Just at that moment, Derek enetered the room, ALSO looking like Shedebra. Pavel couldn’t believe his luck – “Two Shedebras?? Are my eyes seeing this heaven?”
