WABE’s Lois Reitzes featured guest at Dad’s Garage show

A local celebrity will be the featured guest at an upcoming performance at Dad’s Garage.
Lois Reitzes, the voice accompanying WABE’s classical music and arts broadcasts, will be part of the improv’ troupe’s “Story Spot” on Friday, Jan. 6.
“This show, curated by Dad’s Garage ensemble member Mark Kendall, features local personalities who are each invited to share a personal story with the audience,” the event announcement says. “A group of improvisers then creates a scene inspired by each story. The performers do not know what each story will be before the show, and the scenes they create are comedic, and often absurd, takes on the original inspiration. ‘Story Spot’ regularly features a group of Atlanta-area writers and storytellers. Also joining the January 6 show are Laura Relyea from ArtsATL and local performers David Russell and John Mangan.”
According to the station’s website, Reitzes has been with WABE since 1979. From 1982 to 2015 she hosted “Second Cup Concert,” which has since moved to WABE’s HD classics channel. In January 2015 she began hosting “City Lights with Lois Reitzes,” an arts and culture program. In addition to those two programs, she produces and host’s WABE’s Atlanta Symphony Orchestra broadcasts and the Spivey Soirée” series. She is currently WABE’s Director of Arts and Cultural Programming.
The Jan. 6 show begins at 8 p.m. and tickets are $14.50 online and $16.50 by phone or at the door. The theater is located at 569 Ezzard Street SE, Atlanta, GA 30312.
